2. To provide assistance, guidance, training and coaching to enable the intending candidates to prepare themselves academically, for such examination and also develop in them the necessary, personal qualities and attitudes; and
3. To promote and assist the developments, in the Universities and Colleges in Maharashtra of the necessary special interest and competence to further these purposes.
The SIAC will hold an ENTRANCE TEST for two papers every year for the selection of candidates to 11 month full time Training Programme for the Civil Services Examination (IAS/IPS/IFS, etc.) to be conducted by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC)
The scheme and subjects for the Entrance Examination will be as per UPSC Preliminary Examination of Civil Services. It will consist of two papers:
The question papers that are set will be strictly as per the syllabus of UPSC,
Paper – I General Studies - 150 marks (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
Paper - II one subject to be selected
From the list of
optional subjects - 300 marks (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
I. Eligibility for Entrance Test
a) Graduate in any class/subject from recognized University
b) Age as on 1st August
21-30 years. (Open Category)
21-33 years. (OBC, SBC, NTB, NTC, NTD, VJ)
21-35 Years (SC/ST)
c)Domicile of Maharashtra or belonging to Maharashtra-Karnataka border disputed area, but with Marathi as mother tongue.

Stipend for selected candidates
Limited Hostel Accommodation available. (only for out of Mumbai candidates)
The objectives of the SIAC may be briefly listed under:-
1. To encourage University Graduates (specially those from the rural areas and more backward sections of society) to seek a career in the higher public services, appropriate to their abilities and potential through competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission;2.
